Whoever said tilling the ground was easy, no wonder the bible said that ‘’man would eat bread in the sweat of his face.’’ Not an exact quote but you should find the actual quote in Genesis 1: 19. Oh yeah! Farming is not joke especially when it’s not something you accustomed to and you can’t afford to pay workers because you are barely scraping available funds to buy seeds and do other important stuff. It was definitely like a rollercoaster; scary and exciting at the same time.
I remember all the digging and weeding and planting under the hot scorching sun, trying to make sure the seeds were in the ground in anticipation for the rain, the sleepless nights worrying that the rains would come as expected or my blistering hands that would keep weeding in spite of the pain. The body aches and pains that come with the territory. Did I think about quitting? Oh yes! But the determination to achieve was much greater than my discomfort. If for anything I wanted to prove to all the doubting Thomas’s that this working momma can farm like a pro. Lol
Yes, I had an 8am-4pm job, had a family to cater for and I added farming to my already spilling plate. That is where my multi-tasking skill was strengthened coupled with learning to prioritise my daily activities and making out time for all the things I needed to do on a daily basis. The most comforting part in all of these was the fact that I was having a ball and learning to push myself beyond my perceived abilities and level of tolerance.
If you wondering if I made mistakes, yes! I did. I made lots of them which I would be sharing in later posts. It’s ok to make mistakes but giving up is not an option, it should propel you to doing better or trying out more beneficial alternatives. People often say great things don’t come easy and I definitely agree and I have come to realise that great value is placed on things we have worked hard to achieve. The next time the thought of quitting comes to your mind, remember that great things don’t come cheap, they come at a price and are definitely more rewarding than those we got on a platter. Do enjoy the photos below, I was having a ball. ciao
It is often said that your attitude determines your altitude.I slept with this thought ringing in mind, until this morning during devotion i got a confirmation to write about it.For those who are not Christians whether you like it or not you would agree with me that there is a greater force that operates in our Lives, some call it karma but i call it GOD.
Once upon a time, there was this lovely girl who struggled to do everything on her own,she could not understand why life was difficult, why she could not get every thing she thought she deserved, she got so fed up with everything and found it difficult to be happy or thankful about little things,a day came and a ray of light shone upon her; she realised that her attitude towards life caused life to be difficult towards her. This girl is me.In essence beware of your attitude towards life because it will determine life’s attitude towards you.
I came upon this wonderful writeup:Today i can complain because the weather is rainy or be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.Today i can be sad for not having money or be glad that my finances encourage me to place my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.Today i can grumble about my health or rejoice that i am alive.Today i can lament over all that my parents didn’t give me when i was growing up or feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.Today i can mourn for my lack of friends or embark upon a quest of being friendly.Today i can whine because i have to go to work or shout for joy because i was given the power to create wealth.Today i can murmur for doing housework,or feel honored for having a home. What today will be like is up to me.I get to choose what kind of day i will have.
Dwell on William James quote: ”The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.”
It’s with great pleasure i bring you this.wow!i would say today was quite a handful, right from the moment of awakening to bedtime. We often drift through life living each day as it comes without a little spice to spice up our lives.
It took me quite a while to understand the necessity of getting up in the morning full of life and energy with little or no thought to my previous days challenges.I got to notice that your attitude or mood displayed at awakening time’ goes a long way in determining how you go through out the day.
Get excited in the mornings at finding yourself awake. It is a sure bet that you got another shot at life.Let it propel you towards achieving great feats for the day.It a sure bet to stay excited all through the day.Don’t forget to also get excited about the things you love doing.
For those who are always excited about all they do,here are summarised steps to help you plan more exciting moments in your life than you know what to do with:
Establish a goal and write it down
Write down your daily plan of action
Share your goal with someone who will keep you accountable
Act on that plan,beginning now.
Don’t forget to get excited because,a little excitement won’t hurt your usual routine. It will only spark it up.
I was going through a book of mine and came across a write up on fear;that i would share with you.Fear like every other emotion is a factor that influences our ability to act.The fear of failure, criticism, death etc has been driving forces impeding us from achieving great feats. Some shy away from letting others know that they are achievers for fear of making others feel inferior, but the good news is that you can show of your acccomplishments without provoking inferiority, rather to inspire and provide others with a vision of what’s possible.
Marianne Williamson said”Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frighten us.We ask ourselves,”who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God.Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure about you.We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us.its not just in some of us;its in everyone.”
Lets no t be modest about our accomplishments, let us allow ourselves to shine,by doing so,we give others permission to do the same. When we are liberated from our fear, our presence authomatically liberates others.
Just some few hours,i was browsing blogs;right now am writing my first post.this is really amazing.one gets to wonder how this things work.like a friend of mine said”get started, explore, learn, just start.”
Here i am doing something i’ve seceretly longed to do.wow!wow!wow!pardon me am just excited because self discovery is essential to a man’s existence;its a pointer to where he is headed.Amazing things happen to those who step out in faith to do what they want to do.A little push,a little shove in the right direction can get you started on your way to greatness.
some might wonder, what does she have to say?,what’s she talking about?have been there and i know what am talking about.its time for you to move on the train of self discovery, start doing things that are profiting, explore potential and productive pursuits.
I leave with you this;a journey in the sands of time takes a step.just like i did, move and act on that amazing pursuit you often dreamt of.
