DO WHAT YOU MUST

Yass! I told myself I was going to make my 2017 count by doing something I’ve always wanted to do but didn’t know how or what to do to get started. I wasn’t exactly sure if it was some whimsical feeling or something concrete but I was determined to do something even if I failed while trying. I haven’t updated my blog this year but I have got lots to share over the final days of this year.

I remember growing up as a child, my siblings teased me a lot for being fearful because I would normally show fear or caution in doing daring things like climbing trees way up to the top, I would rather stay at a level I consider safe in the event of a fall and the would call me ole(lazy). I never took it to heart though, because deep down I knew I wasn’t what they called me.

I remember how they were so scared of how I would deal with labour when I had my son but I gave birth like a boss (lol), need I say they were shocked and proud of me the way I handled childbirth; they probably thought fear would cripple me and turn me into a drama queen in the theatre but thank God it was a memorable experience.

Okay, back to why I decided to put up this post; so I wanted to farm badly but I had no idea what to do, I googled some materials, started following young farmers on social media, gulping all I could lay my hands on and eventually I made up my mind about crop farming and so decided to plant vegetables and maize. I wasn’t sure about how to acquire land but I kept my ears open and eventually I was told I could get over a plot of land where I work to test run my farm at no cost to me.

I remember the first time I publicly voiced my interest someone, practically laughed and said I must be kidding that I wouldn’t be able to do the tedious job of farming, guess I didn’t look like a girl raised on the farm or in a village, I wasn’t perturbed as a lot of people tried to discourage me but thanks to a friend and big aunty who at the time was also venturing into farming who encouraged me and told me to drown out those voices telling me I couldn’t.

O boy! Did I listen to the negative voices, hell no! I went right ahead, got the land cleared and prepared my tools to embark on my journey. Little did I know that we will gradually grow from that plot of land in the coming months. I have got lots to share but this will do for now. I will be uploading pictures along with the post so you have a feel of the thrill I had trying my hands out at farming.

However, 2017 is drawing to an end, don’t feel bad about those things you didn’t put to action, your plans, goals, ideas, dreams etc. it is never too late to start. It doesn’t matter how many people are already doing what you want to do, believe in yourself, shut down the negative voices in your head and around you, surround yourself with people who will cheer you and if you can’t find any, cheer yourself up, fix your gaze on that idea, that dream and take deliberate steps to actualise it. Don’t wait till 2018 is upon you, those steps might be shaky, wobbly, don’t fret, and keep taking it until they become stronger and firmer. You owe no one but yourself to be the best version of you. Ciao.

Getting started…

WHEN WE’RE ASKED TO PRAY

Life is like a roller coaster full of ups and downs, sharp bends and quirky turns, despite the fact that we have ridden a couple of time we still experience the adrenalin, the sudden rush and sweaty feeling, that herald those sharp bends. This can be said too about life challenges despite the fact that we are familiar that challenges are a part of life and are not alien to us, we sometimes find ourselves surprised, bewildered and overwhelmed by certain challenges that threaten our entire peace and ability to cope.

If you are religious and believe in God like me, I am sure people have made suggestions about you going to God in prayers, and if you felt like me that sometimes reply in my head (who said have not been praying, or haven’t prayed enough, should that be the solution to my problems?), Then you need to understand this. Prayer might not be the most practical solutions to all the problems we face as individuals but it sure works wonders for the mind and soul.

There’s a scripture that says ‘’so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. (Roman 9:16) another one says ‘‘for by strength shall no man prevail’’ (1 Samuel 2: 9c) you need to understand that it’s not by our strength or capabilities or in our problem solving skills, but it is in God’s hands to get us out of our mess. We do not reserve prayer for special times or for peculiar situations, we must ‘’pray without ceasing’’ (1 Thessalonians 5: 17). I found out that praying is one difficult thing to do when you are self-assured and believe strongly in practical solutions to problem, especially when you need a quick solution to an issue or every time you try to pray you are frustrated by self-condemnation or weighed down by the thoughts of what you going through; you must understand that it doesn’t matter about how you feel because often times our emotions becloud our sense of sound judgment.

Prayer is essential in your Christian walk. However, for prayer to be effective, you must open your heart to God, with humility of mind and purpose; you must acknowledge his sovereignty over the situation you are facing. In the place of prayer, you will find clarity and direction on what to do about that situation. You need to listen keening to what God is dropping in your spirit as you acknowledge his ability to help you find solution. You must be ready to let go of all the baggage you came with, acknowledge your weakness and inability to cope, it is okay to admit all the negative emotions you experiencing but you must also be willing to accept Gods help to deal with your issues.

Are u facing trials in your career, marriage, business, family, with your children, etc. whatever the case may be, don’t forget the words of the song writer ‘’WHAT ARE FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS  click link for full hymn https://www.hymnal.net/en/hymn/h/789 are u faced with sorrows, trials and temptation, bring to God in prayer.  Consistently and persistently ask God for help in these areas you will be amazed at the wealth of solution you would find. The next time family, friends, colleagues, etc. ask you to pray do not scorn them, take it up, talk to God even as you make those decisions tell God about it and everything will fall into place for you. Let go of all the noise around you, seek him, pour your heart to him and you will find him and lasting solution to that difficulty. Ciao
