WHEN WE’RE ASKED TO PRAY

Image result for praying posture courtsey: google images

Life is like a roller coaster full of ups and downs, sharp bends and quirky turns, despite the fact that we have ridden a couple of time we still experience the adrenalin, the sudden rush and sweaty feeling, that herald those sharp bends. This can be said too about life challenges despite the fact that we are familiar that challenges are a part of life and are not alien to us, we sometimes find ourselves surprised, bewildered and overwhelmed by certain challenges that threaten our entire peace and ability to cope.

If you are religious and believe in God like me, I am sure people have made suggestions about you going to God in prayers, and if you felt like me that sometimes reply in my head (who said have not been praying, or haven’t prayed enough, should that be the solution to my problems?), Then you need to understand this. Prayer might not be the most practical solutions to all the problems we face as individuals but it sure works wonders for the mind and soul.

There’s a scripture that says ‘’so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. (Roman 9:16) another one says ‘‘for by strength shall no man prevail’’ (1 Samuel 2: 9c) you need to understand that it’s not by our strength or capabilities or in our problem solving skills, but it is in God’s hands to get us out of our mess. We do not reserve prayer for special times or for peculiar situations, we must ‘’pray without ceasing’’ (1 Thessalonians 5: 17). I found out that praying is one difficult thing to do when you are self-assured and believe strongly in practical solutions to problem, especially when you need a quick solution to an issue or every time you try to pray you are frustrated by self-condemnation or weighed down by the thoughts of what you going through; you must understand that it doesn’t matter about how you feel because often times our emotions becloud our sense of sound judgment.

Prayer is essential in your Christian walk. However, for prayer to be effective, you must open your heart to God, with humility of mind and purpose; you must acknowledge his sovereignty over the situation you are facing. In the place of prayer, you will find clarity and direction on what to do about that situation. You need to listen keening to what God is dropping in your spirit as you acknowledge his ability to help you find solution. You must be ready to let go of all the baggage you came with, acknowledge your weakness and inability to cope, it is okay to admit all the negative emotions you experiencing but you must also be willing to accept Gods help to deal with your issues.

Are u facing trials in your career, marriage, business, family, with your children, etc. whatever the case may be, don’t forget the words of the song writer ‘’WHAT ARE FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS  click link for full hymn https://www.hymnal.net/en/hymn/h/789 are u faced with sorrows, trials and temptation, bring to God in prayer.  Consistently and persistently ask God for help in these areas you will be amazed at the wealth of solution you would find. The next time family, friends, colleagues, etc. ask you to pray do not scorn them, take it up, talk to God even as you make those decisions tell God about it and everything will fall into place for you. Let go of all the noise around you, seek him, pour your heart to him and you will find him and lasting solution to that difficulty. Ciao

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Okay! It’s getting stale already I suppose, because the year is slowly but gradually ticking away. What are your plans, goals and aspiration for this year?  before you tell me It took me almost nine days to write a happy new year post, don’t forget that it is never too late to begin the year with dreams, goals and plans for a better year. At least I got my a…s up and I’m writing something. Don’t judge. Lol. But more seriously, I always look forward to the New Year because it makes us aware of our past mistakes and helps us refocus our energies into making better decisions and recreating healthier memories. As we begin to make plans, write goals, about the changes we expect to happen in our lives this year we need to carry a mindset of they are achievable.

However, why it is important and great to do all these at the beginning of a new year, this year 2017, we need to be Deliberate about our dreams, plans, goals, and strategies for the coming year. We need to be willing to work and walk the talk, we need to be ready to overcome the challenges, or else all our planning will become a mere wish before our eyes. I haven’t been deliberate about a lot of things in my life, but I have made my decisions to be more deliberate this year. You too should make that decision, yes! You. Lol.

This year, expect a lot of random post; after all this blog is about self-discovery. I will put a reminder on all my devices about all I need to get done, don’t forget to set deadlines for your goals this year, be realistic with them, be patient with yourself, most importantly, this year love , live and let live( what’s that? Well help me out. Lol) like the coaches on a Facebook community I belong to will say be #phenomenal #toolatetobenobody. CIAO

Love is blind

IMG_20150220_071331Courtesy google images

Ever heard of the phrase “love is blind”? I bet you have. In recent times, people’s opinion of the said phrase has changed. When you mention that phrase in a conversation that discusses the affection between couples, one in every ten person will give you a quick retort; love maybe blind for some people, but for them, love wears prescription glasses. Lol. Should I be of the opinion that those who wear prescription glasses see better than those who do not? ( wondering).

Why is love bIind? I want to believe it’s because one person is so smitten by the other person in a relationship and often don’t realise when they are been used by that person. Have seen where someone who is definitely in a selfish relationship where they do all the caring and loving and yet do not see the lapses of their partner or are quick to defend when others point out unacceptable behaviors of their partners. In scenarios like this, people have been known to excuse this smitten partner by just say the phrase “love is blind”.

Is love really blind? And if it is, does it make one sided affection in a relationship acceptable? I want to believe love is not blind. We choose to love irrespective of whether it is reciprocated. It doesn’t excuse bad behaviour. We shouldn’t be carried away by our affection. If a love relationship is one sidded, then you have the right to walk away especially an unhealthy situation where all you get is shredding of of ur self esteem and worth. Don’t be fooled that love is blind, you can clearly outline what you want in your relationship don’t excuse unhealthy relationship with the phrase “love is blind”.

I know love could mean a lot of different things to everyone depending on their expectations in a relationship but true love should be sewn from mutual respect, care, affection and genuine concern for one another. Where love is shown it should be healthyliy reciprocated. In as much as we have our failings as humans, we should see love as a tool to shape, nurture, care, mould, motivate and inspire others. It is not also restrictive to our partners, Valentine’s day, family and friends alone but as many people as her opportune to cross our path. A little smile, a kitten extension of the arm of friendship, a little concern n care is all that matters.

It’s February, the month of LOVE, spread the good cheer, feed someone, cloth someone, give a hug, share words of encouragement , tend the sick, vist the orphans, extend the arm of help to the elderly, help your spouse with the house chores, go for a romantic date, be happy making others happy. cultivate the habit of sharing. Don’t wait for Valentine. Let everyday be a love day. Ciao
