The great poet’s call- A tribute to Ken saro wiwa by damilola balogun

With tears we received

The whispers of a fallen art

You chanted aloud

The silent screams of your people

Death knocked but you lived on…

I wondered about your sacrifice

Your art over the rights of your people

You used your art to speak

But your voice was stifled

Through your imprisonment

Yet your voice kept

Chanting the agonies of your people

I was but a child when you moved on

You lived on in prints

I never for once thought your actions wrong

You gave will,

The courage,

to step out…

The freedom that comes with

A move to better our lot.
